This is the best vacuum ever made. I just bought a dyson rollerball to replace the bagged version of this vacuum and it was the biggest mistake I ever made. Dyson is a rip off. They sell you cheap flimsy plastic vacuums that will break eventually and slap a $400+ price tag on em. Oh and the dyson rollerball sounds like a chainsaw when it's on and you really need to read the instructions to figure things out. With the Hoover windtunnel it's all common sense. No need to read instructions and it's so easy to figure out and switch to the hose for doing vents, corners, stairs, etc. This is definitly the only vacuum I'll ever need. Please never stop making these hoover.

I owned two and would not buy another. The first worked great but died just about 14 months so I didn't bother trying to fix it. I read the reviews about noise and suction lost but decided the first worked well for a year and they must have fixed the problems by now. I liked the red color, looked durable - sold itself. The second started making a horrible sound about 7 months then suction went. I bought a new filter, filter cover to see if would help. The suction improved but the noise increased and started leaking black fluid, maybe oil, from the enclosed motor. I went back to Target and asked if they could look up in the history when I purchased it so I could call the mfg about limited 12 month warranty. They couldn't go back over 3 months. I couldn't find my receipt. They no longer carried it, Walmart no longer carried it. If the chains want nothing to do with it head the reviews.

++ Eureka 4870PZ Boss SmartVac Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner

I bought this item at Costco several years ago for 137.00.

Pros: Very powerful, does a great job. Accessories are on board which is convenient. Bag is large, but I don't recommend waiting until its chock full to change. I change it at about half full.There is a lot of crap in there that I don't want around the house for any period of time. Convenient long cord. I occassionally vac out the HEPA filter to keep it clean.(with our garage vac). Bag is easy to change. Also, you get plenty of exercise pushing this thing around.

Cons: Very heavy to push around. Rug/Floor switch is very hard to use. My wife cannot use the vac because of its weight & she cannot use the rug/floor switch because it is too hard to push. I don't recommend this vac for seniors & people with bad backs. Motor filter is very flimsy foam. Cannot see how it does any filtering at all.

Improvements we sould like to see:

1. Self propelled

2. Cord winder storage

3. A better designed rug/floor switch so that it doesn't feel like you are going to break a thumb pushing it.

4. Quieter Motor.

5. Better designed retainers for the vac hose, which always seems to come loose during vacuuming.



Buyers remorse: I think I would have bought the Consumer Reports recommended model(Sears self-propelled) If I had it to do over again, but it, of course, was twice as much. Thanks.

Vacuum was as described and very well designed except for two issues.

1) The intake head (for dirt/debris) is too small. It is only about 2" wide. Should be 4"

2) The dirt/debris cannister is too difficult to take off and empty and then put back on.

I would still purchase again, and do think it is a very good HandVac. Just these two issues keept it from being great/fantastic!

I just removed all the wall-to-wall carpet in my house and replaced it with hardwood and area rugs, so I needed a new vacuum cleaner suited for the new floors. I originally had my heart set on the Miele, but I found that the Bosch had the same features at half the price, and it's still made in Germany.

It is sooooo quiet. My cat doesn't turn into a lighting-bolt and the kids don't scream at me. I like the variable suction control. I don't need much power on the hardwood, but when I suck up pet-hair from the area-rugs, I crank it up and it does great. I have very low, dense-pile rugs. I can imagine that this wouldn't work well at all on loose or deep-pile rugs. The attachment just isn't suitable for that.

I'm taller than most women, and I really like that it has an adjustable length on the wand, so I don't end up hunch-backed like I do with most vacuums. It's very light and maneuverable. I broke a rib a few days ago, but I was able to vacuum today. I never would have been able to do that with my old upright beast. All the wheels are rubber, so it doesn't marr the hardwood.

The only thing I don't like is the price of the replacement bags. I've ordered some original Bosch bags and also a set of generic bags to compare the performance of the two. The bags can also be difficult to find locally. I've only been able to find them online.

I have had my vacuum a little over a year. I love lots of things about it, but have had a lot of problems with it. I really researched before having bought this, and thought I was getting a good product, but I was wrong. Within the 1st month, I had an issue with the power cord. It took over a month (and a 1 hour drive to the "authorized repair" shop each way) before it was fixed, and now, little over a year, it is not working AT ALL. Definitely something electronic. I tried contacting customer service with no response. I am extremely unhappy. We spent over $400 on this vacuum and to only have it last 1 year is deplorable. Also, the bags ARE small, they dont hold much, and are expensive to replace. If this were a true quality product with a little more than 1 year warranty and customer service that would back up the product, I would recommend it, but as is, I would not recommend to anyone, unless you are willing to risk several hundred dollars, and then more in repair bills after your 1 year warranty is up.

Oh yeah and the handle end broke off after about a month.



Today I went and bought a Dyson. It was more expensive but had outstanding reviews.



Hoover should be ashamed of this product and should have issued a recall. And Amazon -- why are you selling such a piece of crap on your site?

After much searching around the net and in stores for a decent vacuum cleaner, I read a few great reviews about this Dyson DC25 animal. Turns out my sister has one and raved about it. Turns out a couple of people at work also raved about their Dyson vacuum cleaners. They all said I wouldn't regret spending this kind of money on a vacuum cleaner. They were absolutely right!



I honestly can't believe I spent this much for a vacuum cleaner. I just bought all new kitchen appliances and this was more expensive than my new range or dishwasher, and very comparable to the cost of my new refrigerator! But I "sucked it up" and bought it. Amazon had the best price by far, either online or in-store anywhere.



As an experiment, I used my old Eureka vacuum cleaner on my area rug in the living room. A day later I used the Dyson DC25 and it picked up SO MUCH DIRT!! I actually had to empty the container twice just vacuuming that area rug. I could not believe all that dirt and cat hair had been left behind by my old vacuum cleaner all these years. It was disgusting. I have my 2 bedrooms carpeted with wall-to-wall, and again I had to empty the Dyson container multiple times, which is a GOOD thing! I was absolutely amazed at how much it picked up, and everyone was right, I do not regret buying this vacuum cleaner. My house will be a lot cleaner from now on.



It was fairly easy to put together and it's very easy to empty the container (this might sound geeky but it's actually FUN to empty it and see all the crap it picked up!). I like the little hand-held attachment that comes with it, that made it very easy to vacuum furniture, pillows, and my bed comforter where the cat sleeps all the time.



One word for this product...AMAZING. I highly recommend it.

I didn't have high hopes for the hand held and I am shocked at how well it works. It cuts through grime I couldn't get any cleaner to remove. It also cleans the grout very well, I was amazed when the grout seemed to change color because all of the dirt had come out. Both products are almost silent which is very good when you have animals scared of the vacuum.



I think this product is excellent for anyone with animals or kids!

SO, I have had this thing for three weeks and used it about 4 times. My entire house is tile. That is a whopping 2,800 square feet of tile! First time I have got to walk around the house in socks and not have dirty gray footprints on my socks! I love this thing!



I don't see how it is so complicated. Maybe because I didn't read the directions....For changing out the solution and all that, for my floors I had to refill the tank about 5 times. I use hot water and Lysol.



The only con I have is that I don't use the attachments per se. The grout cleaner attachment frankly doesn't work for me. I use the Sonic scrubber or better yet, a nice sturdy bristle brush on hands and knees. I have to admit, last week, I did clean all my grout by hand and I think with hos the cleaner works and how my tile is laid out, I don't think my grout will get nearly as dirty as when I used my mop. So, at least i own't have to clean my grout as often!



I am a relatively tall person and lugging around this "heavy" equipment is no big deal. It is not more heavier than my Dyson with the ball. So, if you are a small petite gal, this may not be the cleaner for you.



Like I said, it DOES work and as far as leaving your floors wet, that isn't an issue for me at all. It doesn't. When I am done, I place the unit in my garage and take it apart to clean all the brushes and whatnot. And it isn't any loader than a vacuum cleaner :-).



WOuld I recommend this to friends and family? ABSOLUTELY! I have even whipped it out and given demos!

Ordered this a couple years ago, for the price I was very surprised to see it was Made in China. Kitchenaid had always been American made and known for its top notch quality. Not anymore. I should've sent it back then and there, but for some reason I didn't.



At first I was impressed. Seemed quiet, powerful, and worked really well. After a few months of usage though the handle of the bowl started getting crud jammed in it and it's very difficult to open up and clean due to the idiotic nanny safety shut off device inside. Instead of making the handle solid and relying on the fact that you're smart enough not to stick your fingers in it while it's running, there's a stupid interlock that shuts it off if you open the lid. Not long after the cheap plastic on this broke and the only way to operate it at all was to stick a toothpick into the switch on the base which is hard to do and use it at the same time.



Recently while using it, the motor completely burned out. This after only a couple years of light (maybe once weekly) usage. I opened the unit up to see if the brushes are serviceable and found the motor is molded into the plastic of the base! It can't even be removed. Typical completely disposable cheap chinese junk. It's obvious kitchenaid cut every possible corner on this. I tossed it in the trash where it belongs and picked up a used Made in USA Kitchenaid food processor from the 80s on an online auction site as a replacement and have no doubt it will far outlast this one.



Never again will I consider any Kitchenaid products.

I have had this vacuum five years. The only thing I like about it is that has pretty good suction. I have replaced the hose 2 times (almost $100 a pop) and the wands 2 times. You can only buy the tiny bags at Lowes and they are very expensive. I will not buy again because it is now broken again and I have to buy a new one. What happened to quality??

I bought this from Sears, which was my first mistake. When we got it assembled, I followed the instructions on filling it with hot tap water and waited ten minutes. When I began using it, what came out of the machine was colder than the tap water I put in. I called the Hoover customer care number to ask how you make actual steam come out of the SteamVac and was told (and I quote) "Oh, that's just the name."



Sears, in its ongoing campaign to gouge as much money out of the buying public as it can before going bankrupt, charged me a $30 restocking fee because I had already opened the box. When I asked how else a customer is supposed to know that the SteamVac Carpet Cleaner neither steams nor cleans, the conversation ended.

The fact that it was much quieter and had a more powerful suction than my 20-year old "3 hp" Eureka canister vacuum was frosting on the cake. The rug beater seems to do a good job on carpeting, but like the previous reviewer I wish they'd included a floor tool.

This carpet cleaner doesn't suck the water back out of the carpet, I would guess only about 25% of the water it puts out. Every time I used the Proheat 2X the carpet was wet for about three days, and about a week before it was completely dry. In an attempt to suck up all the water I could, I went over the carpet many times, which made it take hours to clean even the tiniest of rooms. The carpet was also crunchy for a couple of days after it dried.



Also, the hose attachment started dumping the cleaner out whenever I used it. And finally this morning, when I REALLY needed the machine to work (bad dog!), it used an entire chamber full of cleaner to clean a 2'x6' area. And only sucked up about 10% of the water. I've had this for about 4 years, but because it was such a hassle I only used it once or twice a year (in my small house). I also used the hose attachment about once a year. So that's no more that 12 times, before it completely broke.



I bought a Hoover Dual V Steam Vac today. It works so much better! It sucked up almost all of the water it put out. And I feel like it picked up so much more dirt than the Proheat 2X. And because it picked up the water so well, I didn't have to go over the same spot multiple times, so it cut the time down a lot.

I purchased this vacuum thinking I was replacing my old Panasonic model with the same newer model.....wrong.....this is the "commercial" model, and it is now a discontinued model......there were several differences.....when using the on-board tools, my old model allowed me to switch off the agitator with a foot pedal.....this commercial model does not have that good feature and clearly states in the manual...."CAUTION: If tools are used, and vacuum cleaner is left in upright position, carpet damage could occur. (From the agitator!) Agitator rotates when using tools, use care to ensure that nothing comes into contact with agitator. (No duh!)"......That is a SERIOUS design flaw, especially since it is a "commercial" model....I need to clean my blinds with the hand-held brush, and if the agitator cannot be shut off while allowing for a good suction feature for the tools, that's NO GOOD!....plus the suction over-all is worse than my older model (too bad my older model is discontinued, too)....plus, there is no bottom "cord hook" on the handle to wind the cord around, only a top hook...HOW cheap and inconvenient!....plus, the cord is an ugly "caution yellow" color, probably since it is a "commercial" model to make it look "industrial" (Not shown in photo!).....plus, when I tried to contact Panasonic's customer service, I had to make EIGHT calls, and got absolutely NO help from Panasonic!.....that was the straw that broke the camel's back.....I will not buy Panasonic again due to really bad customer service, and this model is not worth even a dime in my opinion.....I can't return it due to the high shipping and restocking fee from the seller, so I am now just going to keep my old Panasonic vacuum for a year or so more while I shop around.....I'm not sure what I'll do with this hunk of junk that I just wasted $220.00 on....thank God I can vent in this review....save yourself the headache and money....avoid buying this poorly designed machine, in my opinion.

I have had my vacuum a little over a year. I love lots of things about it, but have had a lot of problems with it. I really researched before having bought this, and thought I was getting a good product, but I was wrong. Within the 1st month, I had an issue with the power cord. It took over a month (and a 1 hour drive to the "authorized repair" shop each way) before it was fixed, and now, little over a year, it is not working AT ALL. Definitely something electronic. I tried contacting customer service with no response. I am extremely unhappy. We spent over $400 on this vacuum and to only have it last 1 year is deplorable. Also, the bags ARE small, they dont hold much, and are expensive to replace. If this were a true quality product with a little more than 1 year warranty and customer service that would back up the product, I would recommend it, but as is, I would not recommend to anyone, unless you are willing to risk several hundred dollars, and then more in repair bills after your 1 year warranty is up.

I have always been a canister vacuum person. Had Sears Kenmore previously which lasted me 17 years with only one repair. Let's start with the pros: it's bagless... 6 yr. warranty... love the under furniture swivel action... not too noisy... telescoping handle comes in handy. The cons are: bulky to handle... not powerful enough... attachments don't click into handle (including beater bar) so they keep disconnecting from handle while vacuuming... floor brush has no spot to be held on canister... retractable cord has to be fed back in, does not retract on it's own... beater bar does not pick up everything on carpets even at the lowest setting. Having said all that, I think the negatives outweigh the positives. It does an OK job but not great. I'm disappointed.

I bought this vacuum based on the good reviews I saw. I have 500 square feet of vinyl flooring that I wanted to use this vacuum on because I dislike sweeping.



Pros: I found that the vacuum is powerful and has great manueverability under chairs and around table legs. It also has excellent edge cleaning.



Cons: However, it won't pick up cheerios or anything close to the size of a cheerio. Crumbs get sucked to the vacuum and then bounced off so I have to chase them around to vacuum them up. Another thing that bothers me is that the handle won't angle up very high without lifting the head off the floor--so if you are trying to reach far underneath something or vacuum in close quarters such as a hallway, it doesn't work so well. It seems as if you have to be 6 feet away from what you are vacuuming to maintain the correct handle angle and keep the head on the floor. A minor annoyance is that, just as another reviewer said, the cord clip to snap the plug to the cord after winding it up is too small and will not clip onto the cord. I do not feel that this vacuum was worth the almost $300 I spent and will be returning it.
