I like this vacuum cleaner! I've had it for a few years and it works very well. It's easy to empty the dirt collection cup. You've got to pull out the filters located below and above the dirt cup and wash them out occasionally. You also have to change the paper filter on the side of the vacuum occasionally. I lent my vacuum to my sister and when I got it back, it wasn't sucking well, so I removed the hose and cleaned it out. I found it had a bunch of wood chips stuck inside the hose. It still wasn't sucking well, so I removed all of the filters and washed them out. My sister had vacuumed up sheetrock dust that was sticking to all of the filters. After washing out the filters, the vacuum works great again! It helps if you read the instructions and keep the vacuum clean.
